Sainte Foy Tarentaise

À deux pas des grandes stations de la Haute-Tarentaise, Sainte-Foy, la petite dernière, 22 ans seulement, est un joyau installé à 1550 m d’altitude…

Sainte-Foy Tarentaise domine sa commune éponyme de 900 habitants : un vieux village chef-lieu posé à 1000 m sur la route du col de l’Iseran, celle qui grimpe à Tignes et Val-d’Isère, plus une ribambelle de hameaux d’antan, Le Miroir, La Mazure, La Thuile avec un clocher au style baroque, face aux sommets et glaciers de la Vanoise.

La jeune station a judicieusement calqué son architecture de pierre, bois et lauzes sur celle de l’habitat traditionnel. Comme les vieilles maisons, les chalets récents arborent des façades à ­colonnes, ces symboles de richesse ­importés jadis de la vallée d’Aoste italienne voisine.

 

Le domaine skiable de Sainte-Foy Tarentaise

Son domaine est ouvert de décembre à avril sur un petit domaine de 32 km de pistes. Il bénéficie toutefois d’une belle altitude (1550 à 2600 m), d’une bonne orientation nord-ouest et d’une partie basse en forêt, précieuse par jour blanc. Les enfants ne peuvent pas se perdre car les pentes arrivent toutes à la station. Trois zones freeride, non damées mais sécurisées, procurent un avant-goût du ski hors piste.

 

Le domaine Hors-piste de Sainte-Foy Tarentaise

Spécialité locale, le ski hors piste offre ici des terrains de jeux variés, dont certains accessibles rapidement avec un petit niveau.

Telles les balades en pentes douces dans les prés, ponctuées de pauses de charme dans les hameaux d’alpage engourdis sous la neige. Pour les plus sportifs, des descentes vierges bien méritées après une marche d’approche, skis sur le sac ou à peaux de phoque.

L’itinéraire de la pointe de Foglietta sans doute un des plus connus et mythique de st foy après une marche d’approche d’environs 45 min nous voilà a presque près de 3000 mètres d’altitude avec 2 options d’itinéraire sois l’un empruntant sa fameuse face nord avec de multiples possibilité de passage pour finir dans le magnifique vallon du Croz et rejoindre le village de la Mazure ou d’emprunté sa fasse Ouest dans un jolie couloir engagé pour revenir a l’arrivée du télésiège de Marquise.

 

Un autre itinéraire magnifique est celui qui part du sommet du télésiège de l’aiguille à 2600 M d’altitude empruntant le vallon du clou pour passé par le village classé du Monal où la pause casse croute s’improvise régulièrement pour visiter ce joli village de pierre, de bois et de lauze, pour ensuite rejoindre la station de Sainte-Foy.

 

Et bien sur d’énorme possibilité s’offre au amateur de ski de randonnée, telle que la pointe de l’Archeboc, Argentière ou la Pointe de la Davi.

 

Tout pour dire que Sainte Foy n’a rien a envier aux grandes stations de Tarentaise.

The San Bernardo ski area is a French-Italian international ski area.

It is located in the department of Savoy in France and in the autonomous region of Valle d’Aosta in Italy.

It was created in 1984 when they have connected the ski resorts of La Rosière 1850 in France and La Thuile in Italy.

It’s an interesting ski area for people who like to practice off piste skiing with lots of forest skiing in the French area of Les Ecudets and in the larches forest of Les Suches on the Italian side.

We also find nice itineraries in higher altitude on slope or by doing ski touring, and two new chairlift will be available on the sector of Mont-Valaisan for the winter 2018/2019, that will allow the access to new Off-Piste and more sportive ski slopes.

The features of this ski area are the two main exposures, South on the French side and North on the Italian side, delimited by the mountain chain along the border, that why San Bernardo ski area often provides very good snow conditions thanks to the meteorological phenomenon of the “Eastern return”.

The other big advantage of this ski area it’s to be able to ski in front of the Mont-Blanc massif with a breathtaking view on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc, or the beautiful landscape over the Tarentaise valley from La Rosiere.

Culinary speaking, after a good morning of ski, it’s possible to enjoy a good meal with some Valdostana specialities and a very tasty limoncello to refresh yourself before the way back to La Rosiere to see the sun set on a beautiful terrace.
